LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The fun of Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 The 70s trips back to February 1971, Saturday night at 7 pm over WLAF radio.  The fun three hours of memories are brought to you by Maynard’s Auto Parts, Petals of Grace Flowers and Gifts and State Representative Dennis Powers.

Hits from the week of February 27, 1971, are featured as Casey counts down the Top 40 songs from that long ago week tonight on WLAF.

Elton John was on the charts with his first major hit, Your Song, while the Temptations were singing Just My Imagination.  Me and Bobby McGhee, the biggest hit for Janis Joplin, was playing all over the radio as was Gordon Lightfoot’s first hit song, If You Could Read My Mind.  You’ll also hear the nation’s other top 36 songs over WLAF just like they all played here on the old radio station in 1971.

  1. I remember listening to Casey through the years and trying to guess what was going to be the #1 song on the countdown that week – great music, great memories, great idea!
