Roy Howard Baird Sr., age 100, of LaFollette, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2021 while surrounded by his family with which he enjoyed spending time.  He loved to hunt, fish, and garden with his special friend, Tim Russell. He was the last of the six brothers from Campbell County to serve in time of war in which he proudly served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy.

He is preceded in death by parents, Aaron and Phoebe Baird; son, Scott Edward Baird; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Fish; brothers, Nolan, Nathan, Chester, Virgil, and Adrion Baird; sisters, Louise Bryant, Sophia Baird, and Edna Chambers.

He is survived by wife Darla Baird; sons, Roy H. Baird Jr. and Samuel Adam Baird, both of Washington; daughters, Nancy Susan Baird of Washington, Evelyn R. and husband Richard Wegner of Idaho, Tina L. and husband John Nepote of Washington, and Heidi Turner and husband Jim Sturdivant of Washington; brother, Willard Baird of LaFollette; and sister Mary Ann and husband Joe O’Donnell of Washington; 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 12 PM to 1 PM at Old Pathway Church with the funeral service to follow at 1 PM with Rev. James Leach, Rev. Frank Jones, and Rev. Tim Russell officiating. Interment to follow at Valley View Cemetery and military honors will be presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard.  The family would like to thank Tim Russell and family for all of the love they have shown.  The family would also like to thank the staff of UT Hospice for the great care that was provided for Roy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Adrion Baird Animal Shelter and UT Hospice.
