First Class Scout Jacob White is a 7th grader at La Follette Middle School.

Dear WLAF,
My name is Jacob White. I live in Lafollette, TN. I am a First Class Scout in Boy Scout Troop 310. I enjoy doing many things in my life right now including church, school, hanging out with friends, and playing video games.

The thing I like most is scouting.

I love scouting for many reasons. I want to share some reasons so that readers of this letter will possibly get involved with Troop 310.

I love Scouting because of the friends I have in my troop.  Troop 310 is like a family. We look out for one another and always have a blast together. If we were not in Scouts we probably would have never met.

I love scouting because of all the great opportunities we experience. The experiences are fun. I have learned many survival skills as a result of camping trips and activities. I began Scouting 2 years ago. I have already been on more than 10 camping trips, a 14 mile hike, and numerous outdoor adventures.

My favorite times have been spent with our Native American friends in Morgan County. They taught us about Native American Culture. I even got to see 2 wolf dogs! We made a medicine bag, made a spear, and learned a Native American field game.

I love scouting because of the leaders. My Scout Master is Chris Thacker. We also have other leaders. Ms. Crystal, my dad, and Mr. Claude help out too. They help keep us in line and remind us to live by the Scout Law, Scout Oath, and Scout Motto. They took us to Camp Buck Toms for an entire week.

I love scouting because it helps me be a better person. The Scout Law reminds me to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

I strive to be a good person and please God in everything I do. I hope you will give Scouts a try!

Your Friend,

Jacob White
