LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – When Rodney Lee Carter allegedly ran a stop sign at an east La Follette grocery store, little did he know he had law enforcement eyes on him.

Around 1 pm on March 15, Carter was spotted running the stop sign by Campbell County Sheriff’s Det. Sgt. Gary Jeffers. Jeffers radioed ahead to Deputy Nathanial Bostic, and Bostic made a traffic stop on the gold Mercedes Sedan driven by Carter.

During the stop Carter was frisked by the deputy. When the deputy asked Carter what was in his front pocket Carter allegedly replied “it’s a bag of weed,” according to the report.

Inside the car, Bostic found clear plastic bags containing what appeared to be meth, heroin and mushrooms based on the arrest report from the CCSO. Bostic also located an unopened suboxone packet. CCSO Det. Sgt. David Wormsley joined in the search, and the officers ended up finding digital scales, a glass smoking pipe along with marijuana .

Carter, 49, 913 Cherry Street, La Follette was charged with traffic control device, possession of schedule I, II and III controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/30/2021-9AM)
