Firefighters saved two homes on Sunday afternoon from this large brush fire.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Rural Fire Service (CCRFS) was dispatched Sunday afternoon to the report of a garage fire in the Demory community.

Upon arrival to the scene on Young Road, crews did not find a garage on fire, but it was a large brush fire burning out of control. Occupants were burning items behind a garage, and wind blew embers causing the fire that was called in at 3:15 pm, according to officials.

This Sunday afternoon fire burned 15 acres in the Demory community.

CCRFS Assistant Chief Daniel Lawson said “the fire was contained to 15 acres with firefighters from the CCRFS, La Follette Fire Department and Tennessee Division of Forestry responding.” Crews were on the scene for three hours all the while saving two homes from the flames.
