George Eugene Evans, age 82, of Caryville passed away on Monday April 5th, 2021. Preceded in death by Wife: Geraldine (Jo) Evans, Parents: James Oliver and Bessie Lindsay Evans, Brothers: Leo, Audrey, Charles and J.H. Kyle Evans, Sister: Peggy Sweeney. He was the owner of Evans Maintenance Service and was a Southern Baptist.

Survivors

Son: Gary (Tammy) Evans, Greg (Leigh) Evans

Six grandchildren

Three great-grandchildren

Brothers and sisters: Geneva (Bob) Claiborne, Joyce (Donald) Jones, Lucille (Robert) Smallwood, Texie (Bob) Winkle, Louann (Charles) Jones, Sherry (Allan) Cannon, Carolyn (Larry) Wilson, Michael (Mickey) (Sharon) Evans, Benny (Rita) Evans.

Several Nieces and Nephews and a host of friends.

Family will receive friends 5-7 Wednesday with Funeral services to follow at 7 PM Cross-Smith Chapel. Rev. Allen Burns Officiating

Family and friends will meet 10 AM Thursday at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Evans Cemetery for 11 AM Interment with Military Honors by Campbell County Honor Guard.

  1. I graduated With Gene. Jacksboro High School 1959. I remember his old pick-up truck and he would give a hand to anyone who needed help. I recall Gene saw a fellow with a flat tire and he stopped and changed that man’s tire. Turned out that Man was a Newspaper Writer and he wrote an article about This Fine Young Man, Gene Evans, that stopped and changed The Tire.

  2. I graduated with Gene in 1959. I saw him a few years ago when he came to my mother’s house on a plumbing issue and he sure hadn’t changed much. He was concerned and helpful like I always remember him. RIP in peace, Gene. My condolences to his family.
