LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “It was something written on the wall of a bathroom,” said Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins. That written threat prompted the immediate clearing of the La Follette Middle School on Tuesday morning with a sweep of the school soon following.

Students were bussed to the La Follette United Methodist Church, the school’s designated safe haven, and some walked as the campus soon emptied.

Sheriff Goins and investigators scoured the school as Bob Suarez with the FBI sent his K-9 to assist. La Follette Police were first on the scene as the morning’s events began unfolding.

Around 1 pm this afternoon, Goins and investigators along with the FBI K-9 deemed the building safe, and teachers and administrators were allowed back inside the school. Students are out of class for the rest of the day.

There were two threats against the school last school year. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/06/2021-1:30PM)
