JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen looked a little different last night for its monthly meeting. Shayne Green presided over his first meeting as mayor and welcomed two new aldermen aboard, Brian Osborn and Jimmy Snodgrass.

Green was sworn in prior to Thursday’s meeting, while Osborn and Snodgrass were sworn in ahead of the meeting by Jacksboro Town Attorney Steve Hurst. The board saw other changes as well. Jerri Starrett was appointed vice mayor and Gene Stevens was tabbed to serve on the planning commission.

Jimmy Snodgrass began serving as a Town of Jacksboro Alderman Thursday evening.

Resignations of police officers John Minor and Zachary Daugherty were accepted. Jordan Huskey was hired as a full time police officer at $14.50 per hour.

Ordinance #124 had a first reading. The ordinance amends the Zoning Ordinance of The Town of Jacksboro by adding the definition of short term rental and allowing the rentals in certain zones. The ordinance outlines each property owner wanting to operate a short-term rental must register with the city recorder, adhere to all guidelines for rentals and pay a $50 fee at the time of registration. Short term rentals will only be allowed to operate in certain zoning districts.

Caryville Jacksboro Utilities Commission (CJUC) was given permission to evaluate problems caused by floodwater on Myers Street and Butter and Egg Road.

Disposal of and sell of surplus items such as a truck with a broken frame, scrap metal, etc. that can no longer be used was approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/07/2021-6AM)
