WHITE OAK, TN (WLAF) – A duo went to jail after the driver of the car failed to obey a traffic control device. Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher West saw a gold Chevrolet fail to obey a traffic stop on last week on White Oak Rd.

West stopped the car last Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of White Oak Church of God. When West went to the vehicle, he immediately smelled Marijuana. He then made contact with the passenger who was in the right front seat of the vehicle. The passenger was identified as Jimmy Junior Marlow. West checked the warrant status of Marlow and discovered he had an outstanding warrant.

After placing Marlow under arrest, West spoke with the driver of the car, Dean Scott Baird. A check of his driver’s license revealed it has been suspended since 2003, according to a report from the sherriff’s department. Baird allegedly told West the Marijuana smell was coming from something Marlow was smoking prior to being stopped. He then told West that he had smoked Marijuana less than two hours prior to being stopped. Baird was given field sobriety tests on which he performed poorly.

Marlow, 44, Route 1 White Oak Road, Duff was charged with capias/bench warrant.

Baird, 52, 504 Sled Creek Road, Duff was charged with driving under influence (DUI), driving while suspended and other. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/13/2021-6AM)
