CUMBERLAND GAP, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The Cumberland Gap Region Tourism Association has announced that “Postmark LaFollette: Arts, Culture, & History Center” is the recipient of the 2020 Region Strong Award for Campbell County. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic – the 2020 Awards are just being held.

The ceremony is Tuesday, May 25, 6:30pm, at the Russell Berkau Memorial Park at Cumberland Gap.

Each year, one individual or organization – in each of 10 counties served by the Cumberland Gap Region Tourism Association – is awarded the Region Strong Award for exceptional contributions in their community.

For years, Postmark LaFollette has exemplified these contributions with its work including: The Postmark Jamboree, The Postmark Writers’ Guild, Community Plays, the Artshine Art Consortium, Filmworks Productions, Summer Art Camps, and many other projects including Smithsonian-based exhibits regarding rural areas and women’s suffrage.

2020 saw Postmark LaFollette continue their dedication as a creative placemaker (meant to bring people together) even when the COVID-19 pandemic meant we all needed to be apart.  Taking the Postmark Jamboree digital, creating the television program The Campbell County Trunk Show (in cooperation with WLAF), and other creative steps to support Campbell County during a time of need.
