Commissioner Zach Marlow, representing District 1, begins the evening by recognizing the Campbell County Cougar Tennis Team. The Cougars completed the school’s first-ever undefeated regular season in any sport at 10 & 0. CCHS, coached by Josh Parker, won both the regular season and district tournament championships and finished among the final 16 teams in the state. The season also featured two wins over Oak Ridge.

First District Commissioner Robert Higginbotham will present a proclamation recognizing Campbell County school teachers as well as have a plaque for each of the 12 schools along with Director of Schools Jennifer Fields. “Our education professionals have worked very hard during the pandemic; organizing and planning plus providing virtual learning and much more. Our school board members played a critical role during this unprecedented time,” said Higginbotham. “We also want to acknowledge our athletic directors and coaches for navigating teams through this season,” he added. Higginbotham commends the parents and guardians. “Without the parents and guardians adjusting and adapting schedules and routines, this would have been an even more difficult school year,” said Higginbotham.
