Valerie Hicks Ayers, age 59, of La Follette

Our sweet momma Valerie Hicks Ayers, age 59 of LaFollette, went peacefully into the arms of our precious Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 20, 2021. She was born on February 6, 1962 to the late Rev. William Hicks and Iris Jean (Boshears) Hicks. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially around Christmas. She also enjoyed singing, cooking, and helping others in their time of need.

She is survived by her sons Kenneth Wheelus of LaFollette, Brandon Ayers of LaFollette, and Austin Ayers of Knoxville; daughters Melissa Wheelus of LaFollette, Megan Gross and husband James of Jacksboro, and Iris Ayers of LaFollette; brother Mike Hicks and wife Debbie of LaFollette; sisters Dawn Maddox of Georgia, Pamela Keathley of LaFollette, and Freda Bowling of LaFollette; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The family will have a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Macedonia Cemetery with Rev. J.T. Asbury officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Martin Wilson Funeral Home for burial expenses.
