JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- A charge against a convicted sex offender has been dismissed, but it will not alter his sentence.

Marvin Bullock, 59, Caryville, was convicted of four counts rape of a child, nine counts of incest, five counts of rape, three counts sexual battery by authority figure, one count of solicitation of sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count aggravated sexual battery, and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child in 2018.

Marvin Bullock is serving his 60 year sentence at the Whiteville Correctional Facility, according to Tennessee Department of Corrections records.

Last week, in criminal court the continuous sexual abuse of a child was dismissed. The dismissal came after the district attorney’s office requested it be done following an oversight.

Pursuing that charge comes with specific guidelines the district attorney’s office failed to follow, according to Lindsay Cadle, assistant district attorney general for the Eighth Judicial District. Prosecutors failed to “give notice of particular incidents” related to the charge to the defense thus making the charge void, Cadle said in court.

The state is prepared to dismiss the continuous sexual abuse of a child charge, Eighth Judicial District Criminal Court Judge Shayne Sexton asked. Cadle agreed it was.

The dismissal did not alter Bullock’s sentence, because he was sentenced concurrently.

Bullock is serving his 60 year sentence at the Whiteville Correctional Facility in West Tennessee, according to Tennessee Department of Corrections records.

Arrested in 2016, authorities learned that Bullock’s crimes dated back to 2006 with multiple victims. At the time, one law enforcement officer said that the victims were between nine and 16-years old. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 05/24/2021- 6AM)
