JELLICO, TN (WLAF) – A silver Chevy Impala was seen traveling at a high rate of speed with a loud muffler on Lowe’s Branch Rd by Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Preston Mullins. The deputy turned around, and Mullins was finally able to catch up with the car as it was turning off Douglas Lane onto I-75 at exit 156 the Rarity Mountain Exit), according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

Mullins stopped the Chevy before 4am on May 12 and spoke with the driver, Michael Gregory Hamblin. While speaking with the driver, Mullins noticed Hamblin was shaking and allegedly acting nervous. The driver was asked to get out of the vehicle and walk back to the rear of the vehicle. Mullins noticed Hamblin was unsteady on his feet exiting the vehicle. He was given a series of field sobriety tests, which he performed poorly. Mullins asked if Hamblin had taken any kind of medication prior to operating the vehicle and responded that he had taken his Suboxone earlier in the night prior to traveling.

Hamblin, 38, 580 Rogerson Rd, Clairfield was charged with driving under influence (DUI).  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/24/2021-6AM)
