The saga surrounding this invoice continues on Tuesday afternoon at La Follette City Hall.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A vote is to be taken this afternoon on whether or not to pay a man who claims the City of La Follette owes him a few thousand dollars. That item is on the agenda of Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting of the City of La Follette mayor and council.

Knoxville businessman James Emmert has attended several La Follette workshops and meetings demanding at length that the city owes him money for work he performed during the June 2019 flood. Over the course of almost two years, Emmert has made these claims. At last week’s workshop, a lot of time was again devoted to the matter. “We’ve beat this to death. We will put it on the agenda and if it passes great, if not you do what you’ve got to do,” City Administrator Stan Foust told Emmert. The item is on today’s agenda. Related story. A lengthy agenda awaits the mayor and council. The meeting opens with a public hearing on the final passage of ordinances 2021-04 adding to adopting open burning regulation and permitting along with ordinance 2021-05 on locking commercial dumpsters.

The meeting begins at 5:30pm at City Hall. WLAF has the live telecast. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/01/2021-6AM)
