Paul D. Hughett, 84, of Jacksonville, Florida, died July 18, 2020 at St. Augustine Rehabilitation Hospital, St. Augustine, Florida. He was survived by his wife, Louise Dupree Hughett but preceded in death by their children:  infant son Paul D. Hughett, Junior and daughters Melanie Elaine Hughett and Melissa Renee Hughett McCoy. He is also survived by his caretaker Kevin Coyne.

Mr. Hughett was born and raised in Caryville, Tennessee, and studied chemistry at Lincoln Memorial University where he met Louise Dupree, whom he later married.  He served in the United States Navy for four year before working as a chemist for companies in Indiana, Illinois, Georgia, and Colorado. He and his family then moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he formed his own company developing and manufacturing industrial chemicals.

The cremains of Mr. Hughett will be buried in the family plot in Evans Cemetery, Jacksboro, Tennessee, on June 5, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.

Louise Elaine Dupree Hughett, 80, of Jacksonville, Florida, died January 30, 2021, at Shands Hospital, Gainsville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Hughett, their infant son Paul; D. Hughett, Junior, and their daughters Melanie Elaine Hughett and Melissa Renee Hughett McCoy. She is survived by her sisters Carolyn D. Warwick of Buford, Georgia and Wynona D. Dye of Knoxville, Tennessee and her brother David M. Rayburn of Black Mountain, North Carolina. There are also many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by special friends Kevin and Roseanne Coyne, who cared for her during her last year.

Mrs. Hughett was born in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and lived in several cities in North Caroling and Tennessee before moving to Georgia where she graduated from high school. She attended Lincoln Memorial University where she met Paul D, Hughett, whom she married. She taught science and biology at a private school in the Atlanta, Georgia area but was primarily a homemaker.

Mrs. Hughett’s cremains will be buried in the Hughett family plot in Evans Cemetery, Jacksboro, Tennessee, on June 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
