JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Valley Street in Jacksboro will soon be wider. Thursday night the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen agreed to allow the widening of Valley Street by the Campbell County Highway Department. Work on the street will be done by county employees and paid for by county funds.

Valley Street runs parallel with Main Street. It stretches from West Street behind the county jail and past the board of education office and then bends down coming out onto Main Street across from First Baptist Church.

The traffic pattern at the traffic light on Main Street will soon change. The board agreed to pay Rogers Group $4,900 to repaint the traffic lines and arrows to alleviate traffic back-up at the light. This is high traffic area especially during mornings and afternoons when Jacksboro Elementary School is in session.

The board voted to move Marty Braden to Street Department Supervisor with an hourly rate of $19. LE Shelton will move to City Grounds and Maintenance Supervisor with an hourly rate of $17.56.

Police Chief Jeremy Goins requested permission to surplus the 2012 Dodge Charger Patrol Car and sell it on Govdeals.com with a minimum reserve of $2,000. Goins told the board the car has engine issues and high miles. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/04/2021-6AM)
