CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – In honor of Free Fishing Day in Tennessee, Cove Lake State Park held its fishing event Saturday morning from 10 a.m to 11 a.m. at the boat dock.
Ranger Cross and several park employees spent an hour Saturday morning providing poles and basic fishing instructions for kids, many of whom had never been fishing before. Getting to see and touch a fish was a new experience for most of the kids there.

“It’s been a fun morning seeing the kids touch fish for the first time and free fishing day is a great way to get kids into fishing,” said Rebekah Wasson of Cove Lake State Park.

As part of the state’s free fishing day/week initiative, children ages 15 and younger may fish without a license now through Friday, June 18 in Tennessee public waters, TWRA owned and operated lakes and state park facilities. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/14/2021-6AM)
