LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The TWRA has more details on the boating accident WLAF first told you about late Monday morning.

“A pontoon boat with seven passengers onboard was involved in a boating incident on Norris Lake near Whitman Hollow Marina,” said Matthew Cameron, Information Specialist for TWRA’s Region IV.

Cameron adds “someone oboard inadvertently hit the throttle causing three passengers to fall inside the boat and be injured, and contrary to earlier reports, no one was ejected from the boat.”

A medical helicopter was placed on standby but was not needed. All three of the injured boaters were transported by ground ambulance to the La Follette Medical Center where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries according to Cameron.

The accident happened just before 11:30am on Monday morning. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/22/2021-6AM)

  1. Boating rule #1: DO NOT STAND UP IN A MOVING BOAT.
Norris Lake has claimed the lives of many people who made this mistake.
