King teaches fifth grade at the elementary school and is in her 32nd year as an educator.  This is her last year teaching fifth grade as next year she will be taking the position of school-wide math interventionist.

According to King, it was two of her own teachers that inspired her to choose teaching as a career. “Mrs. Mary Emily Rolston and Mrs. Juanita Claiborne instilled in me the importance of education and building relationships with the students,” King said.

Her favorite part of the job is the lasting relationships she builds with her students. “I want each student to walk out of my class knowing they were loved and valued.  The best feeling in the world is when a former student comes to visit or I have a child of a former student,” King said.

Her number one positive from the last year of school was getting to teach in person rather than online. “Being able to go back to in-person teaching was the absolute best thing about this school year.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/24/2021-6AM)
