LPD Officers Cory Lawson and K-9 Morris display all the marijuana and cash recovered by La Follette Officers on Wednesday night.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – A speeding SUV was pulled over by La Follette Police Officer Jami Hall around 10pm on Wednesday night on West Central Avenue leading to two large stashes of marijuana and cash.

On July 7, 2021, the La Follette Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on a 2010 GMC Yukon towing a camper for a speeding violation.

LPD’s K-9 Morris was deployed to conduct a drug sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert. Detective/Sgt. Matthew Forsyth, Officer Jami Hall, and K-9 Officer Cory Lawson conducted a search of the vehicle and camper trailer. The search produced a large amount of Schedule VI (Marijuana) and a quantity of cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal narcotics.

The investigation led LPD Narcotic Detectives to the residence of George Williams Jr., the driver of the GMC, in La Follette where detectives located a second large amount of Schedule VI illegal narcotics.

“Congratulations to these Officers and LPD K-9 Morris for a job well done,” said La Follette Chief of Police Bill Roehl. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/08/2021-NOON)
