LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Postmark La Follette Arts, Culture and History Center’s Homemade ArtSHINE Theater will be auditioning for their fifth upcoming play, Southbound on Saturday July 24 from 4 to 7 pm and on Sunday, July 25 from 2 to 6 pm.

Elaine Schatzline-Behr, director of the theater, as well as managing director and Tony Branam, play write and musical director for Postmark LaFollette will be on hand to lead the auditions.  The previous plays have been well received by the community with almost complete sellouts for each performance.  The plays are based on local lore and some have had a comedic side to them.  Tony has brought his humor to the stage again in Southbound.

Most of those who have participated in previous plays have no previous experience.  Elaine’s background and degrees in theater has been evident in her ability to bring the best out in those who have taken the leap to try something they have always wanted to do but never had the opportunity. Come prepared to read a prepared segment from the script.  It is important to also bring a personal calendar to track any conflicts that may arise between July 26 through Oct. 10.  There are some concessions that can be made, but they have to be planned well in advance.

If your interested in working behind the scenes please come during these auditioning hours to discuss or sign on for the multiple positions it takes to make a play come to fruition. There are numerous rehearsals and everyone associated with the play needs to be able to attend.

The play opens to a live audience Oct. 1 and 2 at 7 pm performances and Oct. 3 at a 2 pm matinee performance, and will have a second round of performances the following weekend, Oct. 8, 9 and10, same time schedule.

Postmark LaFollette is happy to be able to bring this type of live entertainment back into the community.  Any questions can be sent to or visit the website. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/12/2021-6AM)
