PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – An man was arrested on DUI and vehicular assault charges after he wrecked the ATV he was driving, injuring his passenger.

Campbell County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash with injuries in the Stinking Creek area on Sat., July 17 at around 9:56 pm. When deputies arrived, they found four people standing/sitting around a mud covered Polaris Ranger, which had scrapes along the side. One of the passengers in the vehicle spoke to deputies and said they were involved in a “machine rollover” and that she had not been wearing her seatbelt and hit her head and was also experiencing chest pain. The deputy checked her eyes for signs of a concussion and noted they reacted in accordance with a head injury.

Deputies then spoke to the driver of the vehicle, Timothy Edmunds, of Oppelo, Arkansas, and immediately noted a strong smell of alcohol coming from his presence. According to the report, Edmunds told deputies he had been “doing donuts” in the ATV when it tipped over and the victim was injured. He told deputies they had been able to tip the vehicle upright and had then transported the injured woman to the Stinking Creek intersection to meet with medical responders.

When law enforcement asked Edmunds how much he had been drinking, he responded with “six or seven Bud Lights.” Edmunds was given a field sobriety test, which he failed.

The victim was transported for treatment and Edmunds was arrested and transported to the Campbell County Jail. He was charged with DUI, vehicular assault, driver to exercise due care and failure to maintain control of the vehicle. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/26/2021-6AM)
