DUFF, TN (WLAF) – A Duff man fails in his attempt to flee from officer. Recently, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher West went to home on North Highway 25W for a domestic violence call. However when West arrived, he saw Doyle Layne, III getting off a motorcycle, West had just seen the motorcycle sitting at a temporary traffic control device on Hwy 90. He was familiar with the man and knew he had a violation of probation from Scott County. A warrant check with dispatch confirmed what West already knew, according to a report from the Sherriff’s Department.

When West attempted to place the 50-year old Layne under arrest, he attempted to flee the scene on foot, West commanded the man to stop, but he continued to flee. While West was pursing the man, he drew his taser and repeatedly told Layne if he did not stop evading, he would be tased. Layne soon dropped to the ground as West approached. Layne jumped back up in attempt to continuing fleeing but was tased by West and placed under arrest on Saturday, July 30.

Layne, 874 Little White Oak Rd, Duff was charged with evading arrest, other, resist stop frisk halt search, driving while revoked 4th and hold for another agency. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/09/2021-6AM)
