JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The vote by school board members was unanimous as the new football field at Campbell County High School was named in honor of John T. “Jack” Reynolds (photo above) at Tuesday night’s school board meeting. The new artificial surface from SPORTURF was recently installed on The Hill, home of CCHS Football.
“I don’t feel deserving of this. I’m not an athlete, and I’m not a politician,” said an emotional Jack Reynolds. The ’29 model as he calls himself, born in 1929, added he had no thought about this. “I don’t know how to thank the community for this. We kind of support the community and do a lot, but I never dreamed of anything like this,” Reynolds said.
“I couldn’t get him out on the field,” said David Reynolds, Jack’s son. The younger Reynolds drove his mother, Mary Lou, and father to see the new field, and Jack was content sitting in the car until he was encouraged to get out on the new turf, and that’s when he learned about the honor.
Before the first home game on Fri. Aug. 27 , there’ll be a ceremony officially naming the field. That night the Cougars open their home schedule. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/11/2021-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF DEWAYNE “MAILMAN” KITTS)
You could not chosen a better human being on the face of this earth. He is the consummate American.
Bless you Jack.

Thanks to Mr. Reynolds and his family, the community and a countless number of folks have experienced an improvement in their life! Certainly worthy of this distinguished tribute!!
Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds are two of the finest people I know. They are both kind, generous, and genuinely concerned about people. I am sure there are an enormous number of untold stories of how they have helped people throughout the years. I feel very fortunate for them to be a part of my life.
