JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – It was the sound of a loud muffler late Saturday night that led to the arrest of a Jacksboro man. Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Preston Mullins made a traffic stop on the four lane near the Wier Woods subdivision entrance.

Mullins said he heard a loud rattling noise coming from the muffler of a 2006 Pontiac G5 and noticed neither registration light was operational. Mullins asked James Alfred Truitt for his drivers license, proof of insurance and proof of registration. All Truitt could come up with was a Tennessee identification card, according to Mullins.

The deputy was able to confirm that Truitt’s drivers license was revoked, and he placed him under arrest. Truitt was charged with violation of the muffler law and driving while revoked. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/17/2021-6AM)
