JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Lady Cougar Volleyball team held their home opener on Thursday against Halls Red Devils.

The Campbell County JV squad played two sets to begin the night.  Although falling to the Red Devils 17-25 and 20-25, the talent shown in the young squad shows definite promise for future success.

Coming off a big victory earlier in the week the Varsity squad began strong winning the first two sets with ease 25-18 & 25-13 respectively.  Watching the teamwork and the ease of each player rotating in and out seamlessly is awe inspiring.  Strong serving resulted in multiple aces for the Lady Cougars as well as spikes that the Lady Red Devils were unable to return.

The Red Devils weren’t going down without a fight however and pulled off a win in the third set 18-25.

The fourth set saw the score going back and forth between the two teams.  Ultimately the Red Devils won 23-25 forcing the Cougars into a fifth set.

The Lady Cougars played the fifth set with a fury and clinched the victory 15-13.

The Lady Cougars celebrate their second win of the season to improve to 2 & 0.

The hard work the players put in this summer is definitely showing and if this evening’s performance is anything to go by it should prove to be an exhilarating season for the fans.
