JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Who knew that the Twigloo Bus would become such a critical tool during the pandemic?

The Twigloo School Nutrition Bus has been extra busy especially since March 2020.

The spacious bus is also home to meals and milk distribution.

If the bus could talk, it would have some amazing stories. “We’ve had children walk away from the bus with a gallon of milk and are just thrilled to death,” said Wendy Huckaby, School Nutrition Field Manager.

Wendy Huckaby is pleased how the Twigloo School Nutrition Bus is making such a difference in the lives of students and parents.

Huckaby glows when she talks about how the bus is so accepted and loved by the community. “We had a couple of older men who would park their cars by around 9am in front of Walmart to save us a space to park the bus. That was a long time before we’d get there to distribute food,” added Huckaby.

The bus was not originally intended to be a food distribution vehicle, but once the pandemic hit, it was quickly adapted to its additional role. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/08/2021-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
