JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The future Cougars had a rare opportunity to try out the new turf, Reynolds Field, at Campbell High on Saturday as they played Coalfield. The Hoppers and Cutters played though the JV Hoppers missed the game due to illness.

It was more than a game as new Campbell County Youth Football League (CCYFL) President Jimmy Ballew Jr. wanted to honor the former president, Michael Robbins, who lost his battle with cancer last year. A balloon releasing ceremony was held before the games.

Mike’s widow, Shelly Robbins, along with children, Jaelin, McKinley, Dayzie, Dillon, Dixee and Coltyn were all on hand to release balloons with messages to their departed dad.

Shelly Robbins was very moved and surprised by Saturday’s ceremony.

There was not a dry eye in the house, and it took Shelly by surprise to say the least. Michael, the former owner-operator of Robbins Quality Construction, was a very valuable member of to the community and the CCYFL as well. Robbins was a hard working man who loved his family, his community and is still missed to this day. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/10/2021-6AM)
