LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The public is invited to attend a 20th Anniversary ceremony in honor of 9-11 at the LaFollette Church of God at 11 am on Sat., Sept. 11. The ceremony will be held on the front lawn of the LaFollette Church of God. Attendees will be able to watch a couple of videos that will be referenced during the ceremony. Retired Army Colonel Knud Salveson said he felt led to organize and hold the honorary ceremony. “It’s just been eating at me the last year to do something for this 20th anniversary. We should never forget,” Salveson said. He, along with several of his neighbors and church friends have been busy building two eight foot towers out of plywood, as well as a replica of the pentagon and three airplanes, and a map of Pennsylvania with a marker where the other plane crashed.
“Every one knows where they were and what they were doing when the world stopped that day, but we’ve got high school kids who weren’t even born yet, so it’s important to not forget and to honor those that were killed,” Salveson said.
The Campbell County High School Band is scheduled to play, guest speakers will offer thoughts on the event, there will be multiple patriotic music performances, taps will be played and those that perished will be honored.
Salveson said to bring lawn chairs and blankets and come join the community in honor of 9-11. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/07/2021-6AM)
