LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Late last Friday night, a white Mazda 6 sitting parked on old state Hwy 63 caught the attention of Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Preston Mullins. Mullins stopped to check on the occupant of the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Nicholas Lee Miller. While Mullins was talking to Miller, he noticed a hypodermic syringe laying in the driver’s side floorboard. Miller allegedly appeared to be very nervous and had quick sudden movements, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

When Miller exited the Mazda, Mullins saw a red plastic bag containing a brown powder like substance identified as Heroin. Miller was asked how much Heroin he had injected, and he allegedly stated that the bag was old and he had not used any Heroin recently.

Miller, 35, 299 Straight Fort Church Rd, Huntsville, was arrested for possession of schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The next day Mullins was informed by jail staff that Miller had been transported to Tennova Medical Center for an apparent overdose. According to the report, Miller allegedly told EMS that he had swallowed approximately $20 in Heroin the night prior to conceal it from Mullins. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/16/2021-6AM)
