LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Due to the rising COVID cases and in an effort to keep Campbell County citizens safe, the Campbell County Children’s Center has decided to move its in person upcoming fundraiser to a virtual format on Tuesday, Oct. 5.  This format will be similar to the No Show Black Tie Gala that was held virtually back in the Spring 2021.

The event will begin at 6 pm with a welcome from State Rep. Dennis Powers, then a short survivor video; and a live auction will follow hosted by auctioneer, Billy Ball, and area favorite radio personality, Jim Freeman from WLAF1450.  There will be daily Facebook postings of “items of the day” leading up to the event.  These items are donations from local businesses.  Be sure to follow the Children’s Center on Facebook @CampbellCountyChildrensCenter to bid on the items.  The live auction will telecast via WLAF-TV12, 1450wlaf.com, YouTube, RokuTV, Amazon Firestick and Facebook.

“We had high hopes that we would be able to hold our annual fundraiser in person this year, but felt the health and safety of our supporters took precedence. Thanks to our business community partners who have been so supportive with sponsorships and donations, we decided to adjust and make it a live virtual auction.  Be on the lookout for items such as a Deerfield golf package, pontoon boat rental and truckloads of gravel.  Our financial goal of $30,000 for the event remains the same and we look forward to everyone’s participation on Facebook and the other media outlets,” said Tracie Davis, CEO.

Sponsorships are still available at the $500 and $250 levels.  The gold sponsorship recognition has been modified to include full screen logo recognition during the event as well as some pre-event mentions on 1450wlaf.com.  For more information please call (423)562-4190.

The Campbell County Children’s Center is a child advocacy center that was founded in 2001 to provide a safe haven for sexually and physically abused children.  Instead of being interviewed countless times at different locations, a child can tell their story to one caring and specially trained professional in a child-friendly environment where the child knows he or she will be safe.  The CAC main office is located in Campbell County with satellite offices in Claiborne and Union counties.
