Opal Coday Hite, age 98 of Rosedale was reunited in Heaven with family members on Friday, September 17, 2021.  A coal miner’s daughter, she was born to Charles and Bonnie Coker Coday on October 10, 1922 in Anderson County, where she remained her entire life.  She was a faithful member of Indian Bluff Baptist Church.  She retired from Anderson County Schools after 35 years, 25 of which she was an educational assistant.  She enjoyed each and every child she had the pleasure to work with.  In addition, she worked at Y-12 in Oak Ridge to help make the atomic bomb, worked for the U.S. Postal service and worked many years in the elections at the Rosedale precinct.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Hite, sisters Geneva Frazier, Johnnie Cagley, Audrey Daugherty, Helen Cotton, Joann and Beulah Coday;  by brothers Weldon and Jay Coday. 

Left to cherish her memory, her daughter Frankie Hite, son Dickie Hite and wife Darlene; grandchildren John Hite and wife Karalee, Jodi Phillips and husband Scott, Jerica Massey and husband Zachary;  two very precious great granddaughters Riley and Harper Massey.  Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.

Visitation:  12 Noon – 2pm, Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City

Funeral:  2pm, Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Leach and Rev. Greg Goodman officiating.  

Immediately follow the funeral service the family and friends will go in funeral procession to the Phillip’s Cemetery in Rosedale, TN for a graveside service.
