DUFF, TN (WLAF) – B&B Market is WLAF’s business of the week. Known for having one of the “best and biggest burgers around,” the mom and pop eatery celebrates 80 years in business this year. The market has also been under new ownership for the last eight months, but it’s owned by a familiar face.

Sandy Nelson has worked at B&B Market for 11 years and when she heard the store was going to close eight months ago, she couldn’t stand the thought of that.

“This is a community staple. We have customers that have been coming here for years and my husband and I just couldn’t stand to see it go,” Sandy Nelson said. Her husband Jack Nelson decided it was a good time for a change from doing heavy equipment work and so the White Oak couple purchased the business.

Run like a true “mom and pop” shop, the business is a family one, with their daughter Amanda and granddaughter Alaina helping right along side.

Famous for their giant cheeseburgers, the market also offers mouthwatering daily specials and tons of menu items.

“We love it and the community has been so wonderful to us since we bought it. We couldn’t imagine doing anything else,” Sandy Nelson said.

The business was established in 1941, according to Sandy. Over the years it has been owned by various people.

“There’s just so much history with it being here for 80 years; we couldn’t let that go. The customers are family to us. The regulars are faithful and loyal and we just feel like they are our family,” Sandy Nelson said. She and Jack both said they wanted to thank all of their customers that keep their business going.

“The railroad, Austin Powder, the utility company, police officers, TWRA officers, the folks at Stinking Creek Campground for sending side by side riders our way; all of them have been so good to us with their support. We just want to thank all of our customers for keeping us going,” Jack Nelson said.

B&B market is located at 2955 South Highway 25W, at the underpass. For call in orders, call 423.566.0767. Don’t forget to call for daily specials! Business hours are 6 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday and closed on Sunday. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/15/2021-6AM)
