CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Shayne Wilburn along with CCSO Sgt. Joseph Weaver, Deputy Cody Fox and Deputy Brett Starrett along with Caryville Police Officer Brett Russell went to a home on Pilkey Lane, Caryville last weekend. They were looking for a female who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

When the officers arrived, James William Lane asked what they were doing. The deputies told him they were looking for a female who had an outstanding warrant. Lane told the deputies they could not go into the house, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

Weaver was able to talk with Lane, and he allowed Russell to go in with him to look as the deputies waited outside. After Lane and Russell walked into the home and started back out, Weaver opened the door but did not walk across the threshold. Lane became very verbally abusive by yelling and cussing at the officers. Lane then walked outside and began talking with the officers. He allegedly openly admitted to driving to the home and parking behind officers. During that conversation, he admitted to drinking a few beers.

Lane, 60, 189 Pilkey Lane, Caryville was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/25/2021-6AM)
