LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It was over almost as fast as it started. In less than 10 minutes, the City of LaFollette City Council Workshop was done. The agenda consisted of eight items.

In administrative matters, next week council is set to discuss the termination of public works employee Jimmy Marlow. A list of surplus property is set to be approved to for bidding on Govdeals.com.

The fire department received bids last week on a pickup truck and heart monitors for the medic units. Fire Chief Jimmy Pack reported that both items received one bid each and both met the specs.

Ordinances and Resolutions rounded out the agenda. Resolution 2021-17 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in the PEP Risk Management Pool Property Conservation Matching Grant Program is slated to be voted on at the next meeting. The grant is done yearly. Resolution 2021-18 Initial Resolution the issuance of not to exceed $7,000,000 General Obligations Bonds of the City of LaFollette. LaFollette Utilities Manager Kenny Baird explained the proceeds of the bond will go toward capital improvements to the electric system over the next 15 years. Baird told the council the first phase of the project is a new substation for Coolidge, Cedar Creek and Alder Springs. He continued that sometime in the 15 year time span secondary transformers will be installed and line work will be done.

The council agreed to move the November monthly meeting to Nov. 9 at 5:30 pm instead of Nov. 2. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/26/2021-6AM)
