Phillip Wesley O’Hara, age 40, of the Cane Creek Community of Whitley County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 21, 2021, at the CHI Saint Joseph Health in London, KY.

Phillip was born on September 24, 1981, to the late Garrett Caputo and Linda Belle O’Hara in Jellico, Tennessee.
Phillip was a graduate of Whitley County High School – Class of 1999.  Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Specialist E-4.  He proudly served his country in both Kuwait and Iraq.
During his service in the Army, he received several medals and citations including the Army Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device “V”, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Lapel Button, and the Army Service Ribbon.

After his service in the United States Army, he became a Blackwater military contractor in Afghanistan for several years.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, G W Cornett and Joan (Cox) Cornett; maternal grand parents, John Grady O’Hara and Mary (Davenport) O’Hara; four uncles, John Grady O’Hara, Jr., Gary O’Hara, Sean O’Hara, and Gill Moses; three great-uncles, Kenneth Cox, William Cox, and Harrison Cox; aunt, Mary Elizabeth Merritt; four great-aunts, Mary Alice (Cox) Maples, Shirley (Cox) Smith, Ethel (Cox)Walker, and Helen (Cox) Leach.

He is survived by his daughter, Vienping Belle Yohn, of Thailand; mother,vLinda Belle O’Hara, of Jellico; half-sister, Amber Sellers, of Knoxville,vTN; aunt, Peggy O’Hara, of Jellico; two great-uncles, Gary Davenport andvLarry Davenport; two great-aunts, Wilma (Cox) Meadors, of Oak Ridge, TN and Bobbie (Cox) Meadors, of Jellico; cousin, Robert Leach, of Jellico; special friend and comrade-in-arms, Thurman Baird; numerous other relatives, friends, and neighbors to mourn his passing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, November 1, 2021, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will immediately follow on Monday, November 1, 2021, at2:00 p.m., at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Nick Warren officiating.

Interment will follow on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 12:30 p.m., in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery located at 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN.

Military Graveside Honors will be provided by the Jellico Honor Guard.  Anyone who wishes to go in procession to the ETSVC should be at Cox & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, November 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
