CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – The report of a downed hiker on the Justin P. Wilson Trail prompted response from the La Follette Rescue Squad. Sunday afternoon at 4:30 is when the LRS went to the section of trail above the Little Egypt trailhead according to LRS Chief Charles Hutson.

It was determined that the hiker had a possible broken ankle and was unable to walk. It took the combined efforts of several agencies to transport the victim off the mountain to the trailhead where he transported himself to the emergency room at the La Follette Medical Center.

LaFollette Rescue Squad extends appreciation to the Caryville Fire Deparment, Jacksboro Fire Department, Campbell County Rural Fire Service, Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, Caryville Police Department, Cove Lake State Park Rangers and the Anderson County Rescue Squad and all others for their invaluable assistance.
