NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) today congratulated ten senior citizen centers in Senate District 12 for receiving grants from the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability (TCAD). Following a competitive grant process, TCAD distributed $5,000 grants to 80 senior citizen centers across Tennessee on a first-come, first-served basis. In September, Senator Yager wrote letters of support for all grant recipients.

“I am very pleased that so many senior citizen centers in my district completed successful grant applications and will receive a $5,000 grant from TCAD,” said Yager. “I was proud to support their applications as well as the funding for these grants in our state budget, which will help provide much needed resources to facilities tasked with an extremely important job of taking care of our aging citizens. I congratulate these ten senior centers on securing grants and appreciate TCAD for administering the funds.”

The funding for these grants was allocated by The Tennessee General Assembly this year, which appropriated $400,000 for senior centers across the state in the 2021-2022 state budget. Senator Yager voted to approve these funds in both the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee and on the floor of the Senate.
