RED ASH, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Deputies recently responded to a call of shots fired. A call came into 911 around 7:13 pm on Mon. night, Nov. 8 where a truck driver alleged that someone had just fired a weapon behind him as he was pulling into the log yard on Old Hwy 63.

The truck was hauling gasoline in a tanker truck. The driver of the truck reported that it was a Jeep Wrangler with an off road light bar on top but was unsure of the color according to a report from the sheriff’s department. Deputy James McCall passed a vehicle matching the Jeep’s description on Old Hwy 63 near Hwy 63.

Deputy Timothy Powers, along with McCall and Deputy Jacob Fox, stopped the Jeep and ordered the driver out of the vehicle with his hands up. As the driver identified as Dakota Jacob McGhee was exiting the vehicle he allegedly said, “the gun is in the Jeep. I only fired it one time.”

After he was read his Miranda rights, McGhee stated that he fired a warning shot into the bank out of the Jeep window to let the truck know he was behind him. A passenger in the Jeep reported that McGhee did fire the gun toward the bank from the Jeep window. A Glock 34 with one bullet in the chamber and six in the magazine was found inside the Jeep, another magazine with 14 bullets was found in McGhee’s pocket.
