LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The City of La Follette’s next workshop, today at 5:30pm at city hall, will bring up the discussion of designated streets for ATVs (all-terrain vehicles/four-wheelers). Today’s workshop marks the first public meeting for the city without former Mayor Mike Stanfield in attendance. Stanfield was ousted from office last Monday by the State of Tennessee.

In March 2017, the city held its final reading on Ordinance 2017-03 to provide for the use of any all-terrain vehicles maybe operated in restricted areas in the city limits of the City of La Follette. Within the ordinance, it reads “notwithstanding any law to the contrary, any all-terrain vehicles may be operated on the following portions of highways within the jurisdiction of La Follette:”

A – North Tennessee Avenue, beginning at the intersection of Central Avenue traveling north to the Tank Springs Trail Head.

B – South Tennessee Avenue, beginning at the Central Avenue intersection and traveling south to the intersection of Loop and Claiborne Roads.

C – Beech Street, beginning at the intersection of Tennessee Avenue and traveling east to the intersection of South 4th Street.

D – Beech Street, beginning at the intersection of Tennessee Avenue and traveling west along Beech Street to the South 9th Street intersection.

E – South 4th Street traveling south to the intersection of East Chestnut Street.

F – Claiborne Road traveling south to the City of La Follette corporate limits.
