JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Jellico man indicted for second degree murder had a court appearance on Monday in criminal court. During the brief court appearance, Steve Zecchini’s case was reset for December 22. According to his court appointed attorney, an offer has been made to state prosecutors in regards to the case, and the defense is now waiting to hear back in regards to the offer.

Zecchini’s public defender asked for the case to be called again next month to give the state time to respond.

Zecchini was indicted for second degree murder in the April shooting death of Brenda Gail Booth.

Zecchini was indicted by the grand jury not only with second degree murder but tampering with evidence as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Campbell County Sheriff’s Officers along with Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents investigated the crime that occurred in the 200 block of Brick Plant Lane in Newcomb. When authorities responded to the call they found Booth dead inside a camper, according to police.

The investigation led authorities to charge Zecchini in Booth’s death. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/30/2021-6AM)
