Margaret Rose (Heatherly) Smith passed into the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 1, 2022.  She was a member of East LaFollette Baptist Church.  Marg, as she was affectionately known, was born on June 08, 1960, to the late J. Marshall and Oveda Heatherly, who preceded her in death.  Marg retired in 2019 after 37 years of teaching, most recently at CCHS as a U.S. History Teacher.  Marg made such an impact on everyone who knew her and her funny, quirky sense of humor brought many smiles and much laughter. She loved her students with a passion and will be remembered by many. She also loved collecting pigs and had many on display throughout her home and her yard. Her two faithful, furry companions, Lola and Reba, brought her comfort and joy and there were many nights they slept right by her side. She will be sorely missed by many friends as well as her CCHS teaching family.

Margaret leaves daughters, Casey Diane (Smith) Burns and Taylor Lea Smith and fiancé Jake Marlow, with Grandsons, Henley Dorsey and Camden Burns, who loved her dearly.  She is also survived by Brother, Jim Heatherly and wife, Carol, along with their children, Monica, Sara, and Kyra and their spouses. In addition she leaves many beloved great-nieces and nephews who also loved her deeply. Her heart-sister and best friend for 53 years, Anna Rangel with children Chris Cantu and Bella Rangel, will love and remember her always from San Antonio, TX.

Funeral Services Tuesday, January 4, 2022, 7:30 P.M. at East LaFollette Baptist Church with Rev. Zach Lloyd and Rev. Cody Mundy officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. before Funeral Services at the Church.  Family and friends will meet Wednesday, January 5, 2022, 10:30 A.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Bakers Forge Cemetery for 11:00 A.M. Graveside Services and Interment.  The family respectfully requests that masks be worn during services.
