NEWCOMB, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy James McCall was told that a woman making threats was still in the home on Highway 297 when he arrived last Wednesday afternoon.

McCall spoke with the male victim who alleged 30-year- old Latasha Byrd threatened to “dog stomp” him. He said she then allegedly picked up a lit candle, lit a cigarette, and acted in a manner that the man thought she was going to throw it at him.

When McCall asked Byrd about the incident, she allegedly admitted saying she would “dog stomp” him if he assaulted her first but only in self-defense.

Byrd was taken into custody without incident and charged with domestic assault. According to jail records, Byrd is due in court today and was arrested for the 10th time. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/18/2022-6AM)
