JOHNSON CITY, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Attention Cougar Fans!

Campbell County Track and Field kicked off the new year in a fine fashion at the KYA Indoor Invitational at ETSU. The seven Cougars in competition did well to start off the year. With teams across the state and some other states, there was good competition, and it gave CCHS an opportunity to see what this year was going to have in store for them.

The Appearing Cougars were:

  • Audrey Bishop
  • Erica Brock
  • Judah Irwin
  • Madison Johnson
  • Manan Patel
  • Zaylyn Ivey
  • Stewart Thacker

Erica Brock nearly tied her outdoor season (personal record) PR and placing high in the meet. Madison Johnson won the meet in the girls High Jump; jumping 5’2”. Zaylyn Ivey’s opening 800m run of the season was 3:01, a little below her 2:48 PR. Manan Patel ran his opening mile of the year at a decent clip of 5:27 nearly hitting his outdoor PR, while also running the 800m, matching his outdoor PR of 2:28. Stewart Thacker ran the 200m exceeding his outdoor PR of 26.19 with a time of 25.99, and he also ran his inaugural 60m race with a time of 8.07.

The ladies of the team went out and established the school record in the girls 4×400 relay. Audrey Bishop, Johnson, Judah Irwin, and Ivey set a time of 4:51.

All in all, the Cougars were well represented and got themselves ready for the year of competition.
