Coach Ronald J. Murray, age 91, of LaFollette passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022.
After his discharge from the U.S. Army, he became the assistant trainer for all sports at U.T., later becoming the Freshman Baseball Coach at U.T.

He moved to Lexington, Ky where he became the trainer for Adolph Rupp. Ron returned to LaFollette where he was the Basketball Coach for 6 years. It was then that he found his true calling and spent 17 years as a counselor for the Department of Corrections.

He was preceded in death by is wife and high school sweetheart Billie Jean Hatmaker in 2014, his parents Donn and Emma Murray, his brother Don Murray and sister Rita Murray Hodges.

Ron is survived by his son, Kelly J. Murray and wife Annette, granddaughters Jessica Murray and Brittany Murray Marshall and Morgan Ewing, great granddaughters, Sophia, Amelia and Scarlett. Niece Joyce Hodges Evans.

Family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday at Cross-Smith Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 7 PM, Brother Jerry Dagley officiating. Family and friends will meet Tuesday 10:30 AM at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for 11 AM Interment with Military Honors given by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
