DUFF, TN (WLAF) – It was a tight working space for firefighters with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service in the predawn hours of Friday morning. Crews were called out at 6am to a pick up truck fire at a home on Duff Road near the Hwy 25W turn off at the underpass.

Little did firefighters know they’d be dealing with a steep driveway and a fully involved pick-up truck right next to a garage. They were able to extinguish the truck fire and keep the blaze away from the garage saving the garage.

A skillful team of CCRFS firefighters put out the truck fire and saved the garage.

With temperatures in the upper teens, run off from the hoses froze and made for very slippery conditions on the driveway and Duff Road. “The extreme cold temperatures did not help making for very slick conditions at the scene,” said CCRFS Assistant Chief Daniel Lawson.

Lawson adds that the fire engines used the insta-chains to back down the driveway. The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded along with the Campbell County Highway Department.
