Wesley Emerly Lay, age 98, of Goshen, Ohio, formerly of Jellico, Tennessee,passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at The Glen at Eastgate, OH.
He was born on May 6, 1923, to the late Silas L. Lay and Meldia (Davis) Layin the Wooldridge Community of Jellico.  His paternal grandparents were the late James Lay and Margaret (King) Lay.  His maternal grandparents were the late Sherman Davis and Mary (McCulley) Davis
Wesley was a United States Army Veteran who served during World War II.  He was a long-time member and deacon of Williams Corner Church of God in Goshen, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Dean(Anderson) Lay; children, Wanda Bucher, Larry Lay, and Mary Rogers;grandchildren, Roger Lay and Rhonda Bucher; three brothers, James Lay,Herman Lay, and Raymond Lay; three sisters, Nellie Smith, Lorene Lay Goosman, and Pernia Anderson.

He is survived by his children, Danny (Joy) Lay, Sandy (Robert) Hubbard,and Stanley Lay; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren, brother, Paul Lay; and sister, Glenna Huddleston.

The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home, 1944 State Route 28, Goshen, OH, on Thursday evening, January 27, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m.  The funeral will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m.

The family will also receive friends at Cox & Son Funeral Home, 418 Fifth Street, Jellico, TN, on Saturday afternoon, January 29, 2022 from 12:00noon until 2:00 p.m.

Military Graveside Honors will be presented by the Jellico Honor Guard at the Douglas Cemetery immediately following the visitation on Saturday afternoon.

Interment will immediately follow in the Douglas Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.

Cox & Son Funeral Home of Jellico is in charge of all local arrangements.
