JELLICO, TN (WLAF) – Even though the sun will be shining on Saturday, the temps will be in the 20s with wind chills holding in the single digits and snow on the ground, the American Legion Post 154 Jellico Honor Guard has a couple of fallen comrades to honor one last time.
At 11am, the Jellico Honor Guard will take part in a family memorial service at Pleasant View Cemetery just across the state line at Saxton, Kentucky. U.S. Navy veteran Jack Slover will be laid to rest. Slover was 82 years old.
World War II veteran Wesley Lay’s interment is 2pm at the Douglas Cemetery at Wooldridge. Originally from Wooldridge, the 98-year old Lay served in the U.S. Army.
Each military ceremony includes Taps, a 21-gun salute, the folding of the flag and presentation of the flag to the family. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/29/2022-6AM)

Dear Friends,
The Jellico Honor Guard is a non-profit organization formed from volunteer service men and women. We honor our fallen comrades with full military honors upon their passing. We rely on donations for support. Our donations are obtained in several different manners. This includes but not limited to, road drives, local county offices and officers, local business, and individual veterans or persons.
In addition to honoring our fallen comrades, we perform military ceremonies at local schools, churches, and other organizations upon request. We humbly ask for donations to purchase a dependable van to transport our staff to and from each service.
We greatly appreciate any and all donations to help us achieve our goal. Please make checks payable to Jellico Honor Guard, Van Fund and Mail to address above.
