JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – “Our team is excited for the opportunity to host a first round regional game Saturday night against William Blount,” said Campbell Head Coach Ernie Clawson. Remembering the last time the Cougars hosted a regional game would test even the memory of the most loyal Cougar fan. Campbell, of District 3-AAAA, entertains William Blount from District 4-AAAA in this Region 2 quarterfinal showdown that tips at 7pm Saturday. The game will be televised by the WLAF – Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network over the WLAF – Lindsay’s Carpet & Paint Center video player. Josh Parker sends you all the fun.

The good folks at Tiki Hut have taken care of the TSSAA telecast clearance fee to allow WLAF to televise the game live. Thank you, Tiki Hut (Joe and Emily Whited).

Campbell fell at home to Oak Ridge on Tuesday night in the district tournament championship game while William Blount finished third in the its district tourney winning 93-83 over Hardin Valley Academy at Heritage High. The Cougars were 6 & 4 in district regular season games while Blount was 5 & 5.

“The boys are very anxious to get back on the court after losing to Oak Ridge in the district championship game. They understand that these chances don’t come around often, and they are hungry to prove that they belong,” Coach Clawson pointed out.

Clawson and the Cougars describe William Blount as a great team with 21 wins. “So we know we have our work cut out for us,” added the second year head coach. The coach explains that they are a guard oriented team that can shoot the basketball from the perimeter, so it should be a great game.

“On behalf of the team, we want to thank everyone that came out to support us Tuesday night, and we hope that everyone can come back and make the gym electric one more time to boost us on to the next round,” said Clawson. Clawson is no stranger to post season success as head coach and a player. His Cumberland Gap teams had some great runs. Clawson led his high school team, the Powell Valley High Indians, to the state tournament’s Final Four in 1995.

Campbell (14 & 13) is home with William Blount (21 & 11) at 7pm in the quarterfinal round of the regional tournament. WLAF will have all the live radio and TV coverage from Josh Parker and company. That’s over AM 1450 and FM 100.9 for radio, and the telecast airs here over the Lindsay’s Carpet & Paint Center video player as well as on WLAF-TV 12, YouTube, Facebook, Roku TV and Amazon Firestick.
